Formation and Early Settlement

In September of 2007, the Town of Ossian Historical Society was established with a noble mission: to safeguard the rich heritage of Ossian, NY. At the core of our efforts lies a deep commitment to preserving the historical essence of our town for generations to come.

Barn Restoration Project

One of our noteworthy endeavors has been the meticulous restoration of historically significant barns in Ossian. Through painstaking work and unwavering dedication, we have successfully returned one such barn to its original, glorious state. This achievement not only preserves our agricultural heritage but also serves as a testament to the community’s commitment to honoring its past.

Educational Outreach

To ensure that the story of Ossian continues to be told, we periodically issue newsletters that delve into our town’s history, featuring captivating stories and insights from the past. These newsletters serve as a valuable resource for both residents and history enthusiasts.

Public Programs and Events

The Town of Ossian Historical Society is firmly committed to promoting awareness and appreciation of our local history. To this end, we organize and support programs that are open to the public. These events provide opportunities for everyone to engage with our town’s rich heritage, fostering a sense of unity and pride within our community.

Not-for-Profit and Tax Exempt

The Town of Ossian Historical Society operates as a not-for-profit organization, dedicated solely to the preservation of Ossian’s history. We are proud to hold tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This designation reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and our mission’s importance in the eyes of the law.
